RATIONALE General Meeting – Tirana, Albania
RATIONALE General Meeting – Tirana, Albania
The COST Action CA22118 – RATIONALE network convened in March 2026 in Tirana, Albania, for its General Meeting, bringing together participants from across Europe for several days of discussion, coordination, and collaborative planning.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to review progress across the Action, with each Working Group presenting its ongoing activities, key achievements, and next steps. The programme combined structured sessions with open discussions, enabling alignment of efforts and strengthening of collaboration across disciplines involved in radionuclide theragnostics and personalised medicine.
Working Group Progress
Significant progress has been made across all Working Groups:
- WG1 continues to advance training, outreach, and educational initiatives, supporting knowledge transfer across the network. (https://rationalenetwork.eu/en/news/updated-wg1-goals)
- WG2 is progressing in the identification of variability in theragnostic workflows and in mapping current practices across centres. (https://rationalenetwork.eu/en/news/updated-wg2-goals)
- WG3 is developing a repository of imaging equipment and tools and preparing surveys to map current practices, while contributing to methodological work on lesion characterisation in theragnostic imaging. (https://rationalenetwork.eu/en/news/updated-wg3-goals)
- WG4 is developing structured clinical dosimetry workflows and advancing benchmarking approaches to improve reproducibility. (https://rationalenetwork.eu/en/news/updated-wg4-goals)
- WG5 is working towards treatment personalisation through dose-effect modelling, biomarker identification, and standardised clinical reporting. (https://rationalenetwork.eu/en/news/updated-wg5-goals)
- WG6 contributes to the ethical, legal, and data-sharing framework necessary for multicentre collaboration. (https://rationalenetwork.eu/en/news/updated-wg6-goals)
Strengthening Collaboration
Bringing together experts from diverse fields, the meeting fostered multidisciplinary exchange and reinforced connections between clinical, technical, and research communities. It also highlighted the importance of continued coordination between Working Groups to address shared challenges such as standardisation, data comparability, and clinical implementation.
Acknowledgements
The organisers would like to thank the local hosts in Tirana for their excellent organisation and hospitality, as well as all participants for their active engagement and contributions.
Looking Forward
The General Meeting marked an important milestone in the ongoing development of the RATIONALE network. Building on the progress presented, the consortium will continue its efforts towards harmonisation, knowledge transfer, and the advancement of personalised theragnostic approaches.
